Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for the design & development of industrial related software & applications including desktop, mobile & web-based programs
  • Follow applications throughout all stages of the product lifecycle
  • Develop and improve new and existing software designs and programming practices
  • Third party solution development in software environments such as Ignition and Wonderware
  • Design and develop documentation and user manuals
  • Database design and maintenance
  • Continuous improvement initiatives for internal IT services

Education & Work Experience

  • Degree/diploma in Computer Science or equivalent field is required
  • 3-5 years of experience with Ignition and/or Wonderware platform developments

Job Knowledge

  • Database Design and Optimization – Knowledge in relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies
  • Experience working with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Java
  • Experience working with one or more scripting languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, HTML5
  • Exposure to .NET Related Products (C#, VB, ASP.NET)
  • Experience with Networking and Server architectures – Topologies, hardware/software specifications, deployment, and maintenance
  • Knowledge in Object Oriented Programming and Object Relational Mapping
  • Experience with PLC/HMI/Robot programming software considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Industrial Controls, Industrial Networking, and DDE/OPC would be an asset
  • Experience in Manufacturing/Production environments and electromechanical systems is preferred
  • Previous experience as Database or Network System Administrator is an asset
  • Highly motivated team player, with a positive attitude and able to communicate well with team members and clients
  • Willingness to continuously learn and develop skillset
  • Hold and maintain a valid Class G license

  • Configure and develop motion programs
  • Create offline robot simulations
  • Commissioning and debugging machines at client sites
  • Setup robot Safety/Standard IO communications
  • Responsible for programming multiple robot applications (welding, material handling, glue/sealer, vision)
  • Troubleshooting electrical/mechanical and fluid power systems
  • Manage client relationship and project scope under direction of Account Manager; communicating project schedule requirements
  • Uphold safe work practices as per RidgeTech Automation’s safety policies and requirements
  • Provide direction for junior staff as required

Education & Work Experience

  • Degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems or Robotics & Automation is required
  • Must have a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the Robot and Controls Automation industry

Job Knowledge

  • Robot programming experience with Fanuc, Kuka, Motoman or ABB is a requirement
  • Programming experience with current PLC, HMI, VFD, SCADA and motion control would be considered an asset
  • Robotic welding spot or MIG would be an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Must have a positive attitude and be able to communicate well with both clients and team members
  • Hold and maintain a valid Passport
  • Have the ability to travel freely abroad without restrictions
  • Hold and maintain a valid Class G license

  • Provide direction to junior staff members
  • Comfortable executing and/or leading small to mid-sized automation projects

Education & Work Experience

  • Degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Robotics & Automation or Computer
    Science
  • 3-7 years of experience in the controls and automation industry

Job Knowledge

  • Programming experience with current PLC, HMI and VFDs
  • Exposure to SCADA and motion control
  • Electrical design fundamentals or 3D CAD development
  • Complete understanding of project workflow including; design/process/programming reviews, FAT,
    SAT,
    final documentation and closing out projects

  • Peripheral systems including vision systems, marking systems, weld systems etc.
  • Exposure to various automation processes (automotive, food and beverage, agricultural, mining,
    pharmaceutical, etc.)
  • Project management and maintaining client relations
